When I heard Amazon released a skincare line, I literally read the news headline, opened the Amazon app, and bought a few things... yes I am like that with skincare products. Yes, Amazon is jumping into the world of skincare, with their new line, Belei, which features a wide array of your skincare fantasy line. I feel like if Amazon is investing in a skincare line with a mid-end price point, it's gotta be worth a shot! I don't label myself as a skincare addict, but truth be told, I've done my fair share of delving into the world of skin, and if you've never explored r/skincareaddiction then set aside a few hours as you jump down that rabbit hole.
I've personally tried products all over the skincare spectrum, from Cerve to Drunk Elephant, Dior to Neutrogena... and not trying to brag, but my chronically dry skin has caused me to drop some mad cash on anything that touches my face and body, and I have to say, paying more doesn't always mean you're getting a better product, but quality skincare is certainly worth the investment.
As I browsed through the Belei products on launch day, I was highly impressed with what they put released; eye creams, dark spot serums, a charcoal mask, even a moisturizer specifically for dry skin (hello, my people!).
A few things stood out to be about this new Belei line: they are paraben free, sulfate free, fragrance fee, and cruelty free. These are all very good things, and not all skincare lines can relate, so yay Amazon!
Okay, so I have been on the lookout for 2 particular items, and, low and behold, Belei carried them, and with a few clicks on the Amazon app, they were on my porch in 24 hours.
First up is the Belei Hyaluronic Acid Serum, this 2 Oz bottle goes for $38, which is a fair-good price. Hyaluronic Acid, or HA, is kind of like the water barer for skin... it's a protein that holds up to 1000x its weight in water, so if you put it on your damp skin, it clamps all that moisture down and keeps your skin plump and happy. If you have dry or dehydrated skin, HA is your BFF. Hyaluronic Acid is a must in my skincare routine, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw Belei carried it!
First impression: this HA serum is thick! Thicker than me in a cocktail dress on a date night, thicc. This is a beautiful thing, it's like a protective layer to keep water in. Most, if not all, of my previous HA serum were quite watery, so to see a nice thicker viscosity in a serum was an eye-catching surprise.
I started by applying the HA serum to half of my face during my nighttime skincare routine, it went on smoothly and there was an immediate difference in both sides of my side... the side with the Belei felt plump, smooth, and full, whereas the side without it already felt like it needed more hydration. I applied a moisturizer over my face and went to bed.
When I woke up, there was a noticeable difference between both sides... the side with the Belei HA serum felt more healthy & happy, and the side without HA felt like it needed a hearty exfoliator and some cream stat!
I have since incorporated the Belei Hyaluronic Acid Serum into both my morning and night routine and absolutely love it.
But let's get serious, here... what is a skincare line review with checking out the moisturizer?
Along with the HA serum, I got the Belei Bio-Complex Moisturizer for Dry Skin, which was a tad cheaper cost-wise, with 2 Oz being $33.25. The viscosity is much more thin than the serum, it glides on easily and leaves a fresh, non-cakey feel. This makes for a great day cream (though it doesn't have SPF, so you'll want to add some afterwards!), and although I like my nightcream to be thick and creamy so my skin can repair itself as I snooze, I will be using this Belei Moisturizer both day + night for a bit.
Check out this totally unedited, fresh face using only Belei products!
Seriously though, my skin feels really healthy right now, love it!
All in all, I am pleasantly surprised by Amazon's quest to dip into skincare, I can tell they thoughtfully chose the ingrediants and products, and went for a price point that won't break the bank. As far as the products itself goes, I can wholeheartedly say I LOVE them and can tell these were carefully crafted and designed, the HA serum is the best I've ever had (love a thick serum!), and this moisturizer is affordable and keeps my face from feeling dull by lunchtime.
I am really excited about this product line, I think it's great that I can order skincare using Prime, so when these run out, I can have more at door with just a click, love it! Awesome job, Amazon! I am a fan.
Have you tried the new Belei line? What do you think? If not, what products are you using on your face?
