This is a review of the August 2018 Ipsy Glam Bag (yes I'm fully aware it's October, don't judge me). This bag has been sitting at the top of my staircase for over a month waiting on me to open it, I procrastinated so much... that my September bag arrived! Oops. You guys procrastinate too, right? Tell me you do!
Okay, back to the bag.
First of all I love the fun colors of the bag itself, bright orange and pops of yellow, those are basically Summer's team colors. Ipsy always does a terrific job at making the bag memorable and coordinating to the season, and this one was no exception.
Just inside the classic purple mailing envelope though was my favorite product of the whole month's bag, I suppose it was too large to put inside the Ipsy bag, but it was still a surprise nonetheless! It was a full sized Huda Beauty liquid matte lipstick. Ahem, let me begin this by saying that I pay $10 a month for Ipsy, and this Huda Beauty lipstick is a $20 product; not only that, but it's actually a wonderful brand that is both cruelty-free and vegan... so opening a full size lipstick has already made this ipsy bag worth the bag... don't you love it when things immediately pay themselves off? It's like an inner sense of accomplishment.
The Huda Beauty liquid matte lipstick is packaged in a frosted glass full sized tube, the applicator glides onto your lips seamlessly, and the product itself is thin enough to spread on smoothly, but dries to a perfect full-coverage color. The shade I received is Bombshell and, I have to say, it's absolutely the perfect shade for my skin tone. Many of the liquid lipsticks I've tried lately feel like I have something thick & dry coating my lips, which I cannot stand, it's hard to feel normal with a layer of something on your lips, but this Huda one stays lightweight, moisturized, and wearable... it is my favorite liquid matte lipstick of all time.
What's so hilarious about me receiving this product is that, as I mentioned, I've had this Ipsy bag sitting at the top of my staircase for over a month, meanwhile I've been shopping Ulta and Sephora searching for the perfect Fall lipstick shade, something maybe warm and dark; I purchased one that ended up being too dark and felt so dry and tacky, so there I was at square one searching for a shade... when the perfect lipstick was literally sitting at the top of my staircase like "c'mon girl, open me up!".

Okay! The next product is a mini eyeshadow palette by Bang Beauty called Smoky. To sum things up nicely: I absolutely hate this product. The colors apply chalky and dry, they look patchy and weak-pigmented, I will never use this product. Ever. NEXT!
Here we have an organic BB+ cream by Coola rosilliance in the color Golden. This BB+ cream has an SPF 30 and contains rose stem cells... to say it smells good is an understatement! And it doesn't have the grandma rose smell (did I just offend anyone?), it's more like a milky rose smell, almost like boba milk tea. I love this product, I will add it to my car's 'refresh bag' that I keep in my console, for those makeup free days when I need a little something, or if I need to refresh the SPF on my face when I'm out.
The next product is a beauty blush duo pan by Pixi by Petra in Peach Honey. This is the second Pixi by Petra product I've received in an Ipsy bag, and I have to say I'm still not a huge fan. I feel like this brand is in all the right places and has so much potential, but their formula needs a little more oomph to really win me over. When I apply their products I always feel like it's not quite enough, like it's so close and I'm searching and searching for it to show up and it just doesn't cut it. With that being said, those who prefer more subtle glows would love this product! As for me, I don't see myself using this product often.
And now... the final product in my August 2018 bag! This product aligns with something I've been obsessing over lately-- skin care. I've gotten back into my skincare regime recently and am loving the difference my dry, dull skin is feeling. In fact, I've added a hyaluronic acid serum to my morning and nighttime routine and have seen such a huge difference... and voila, here in my ipsy bag is a serum! Meant to be.
I received The Black Tea London Classic Serum by Tonymoly, it contains 100% pure black tea extract and has a slight scent of tea. I found the serum to incredibly moisturizing and rich, the smell of tea is a nice perk, and the be honest-- I once forgot to apply my moisturizer after putting on this serum because my skin felt so dewy. This is good stuff!
________
All in all, I think this bag rocked! It was a bag of passion. I reallyyyy loved some products, and I really hated others... and in my opinion, passion is a good thing.
I will be reviewing the September 2018 bag shortly, I'm predicting it has some Fall focused products, maybe some moisturizing creams and warm pigmented shadows? I haven't opened it yet, so stay tuned and we'll both find out!
